U16 Hockey

A very happy under 16 hockey team pictured yesterday after their Ulster Schools Under 16 High Schools cup match against Slemish College.

Despite some very cold and wet conditions the Academy girls settled into the game quickly and began to create chances within the first few minutes.  Some fast passing from the midfield by Katie, Chelsea and Jodie gave our forwards  great  balls into the circle and Robyn found herself well positioned on the left post to knock the first goal in past the keeper giving Academy the lead. The first half continued to see Academy dominate but the half time whistle went and the score remained 1-0.Some tactical changes at half time saw the girls step up a gear and it wasn’t long before several girls found the back of the net.  Robyn picked up her 2nd of the match, Arianne slotted home 3 from rebounds to give her a hat trick, Chelsea took the score to 6-0 and Holly completed the match with a solo run and a shot from the edge of the circle to see the Academy girls win 7-0.

The girls now progress to the quarter finals against Parkhall College after Christmas.
